レッドボックスジャパンは、ユニ・チャーム株式会社（以下、ユニ・チャーム）が展開する『どこでもソフィ』と連携し、沖縄県立陽明高等支援学校（沖縄県浦添市）において、生理用品提供の実証導入を開始しました。

■『どこでもソフィ』 とは

『どこでもソフィ』は、学校向けの「School Sofy」、企業向けの「Office Sofy」の2種類のディスペンサーを無償で提供※1し、必要な時に、どこでも生理用品が手に入る環境を整備する取り組みです。中に補充するナプキンは、設置先の学校・企業にご購入いただきます。

今回、ユニ・チャームが販売提供するナプキンには、「完全密閉型個包装ナプキン（『ソフィSPORTS羽つき』）」を採用しました。これまで、生理用ナプキンを医薬品医療機器等法（薬機法）が定める範囲の中で1枚ずつ個包装して販売することは、生産性やコストの観点から困難でした。今回、これらの条件を満たす商品を開発することで、誰でも安心して使用できる衛生的なナプキンの提供が可能となりました。

本取り組みにより、「どこでも生理用品が手に入る社会」、そして「“自分らしく、もっと自由に”過ごせる社会」の実現を目指します。

■ 実証導入の概要

今回の取り組みでは、実証実験校となる沖縄県立陽明高等支援学校に、医薬品医療機器等法（薬機法）に基づいた完全密閉型個包装ナプキン（『ソフィSPORTS260羽つき』）と学校向けの「School Sofy」ディスペンサーを提供。

陽明高等支援学校では、保健室内トイレに設置し、必要とする生徒へ教職員を通じて配布を行う予定です。

本実証は、学校現場における生理用品の提供方法や利用実態を把握し、今後の運用モデルの検証を行うことを目的としています。

Red Box Japan Launches Pilot Implementation of Uni-Charm’s “Dokodemo Sofy” at Okinawa Prefectural Yo-mei Special Needs School

Red Box Japan has begun a pilot implementation of menstrual product provision at Okinawa Prefectural Yo-mei Special Needs School (Urasoe City, Okinawa), in collaboration with Uni-Charm Corporation (hereinafter “Uni-Charm”) and its “Dokodemo Sofy” (Sofy Anywhere) initiative.

What is “Dokodemo Sofy”?

“Dokodemo Sofy” is an initiative designed to create an environment where anyone can access menstrual products whenever they need them. Through this program, Uni-Charm provides two types of dispensers free of charge*—“School Sofy” for educational institutions and “Office Sofy” for workplaces. The sanitary pads replenished inside the dispensers are purchased by the respective schools or companies.

For this project, Uni-Charm has supplied fully sealed, individually wrapped sanitary pads (“Sofy SPORTS with Wings”). Until now, selling sanitary pads individually wrapped—within the regulatory standards of Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act—has been difficult due to productivity and cost constraints. By developing products that meet these requirements, Uni-Charm has made it possible to offer hygienic pads that anyone can use safely and with peace of mind.

This initiative aims to contribute to a society where “menstrual products are available anywhere” and where individuals can “live more freely, as themselves.”

Overview of the Pilot Implementation

Under this initiative, Red Box Japan and Uni-Charm will provide Okinawa Prefectural Yo-mei Special Needs School—the pilot school—with fully sealed, individually wrapped sanitary pads compliant with the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act (“Sofy SPORTS 260 with Wings”), along with the “School Sofy” dispenser designed for educational institutions.

The dispenser will be installed in the restroom within the school’s health office, where faculty will distribute the products to students who express the need.

The purpose of this pilot is to better understand how menstrual products are provided and utilized in school settings and to evaluate potential operational models for future implementation.
