As part of its efforts to create a women-friendly city, Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture has installed sanitary products provided by the non-profit organization Red Box Japan in three public facilities within the city since February 1, 2023.

The locations are Matsue City General Gymnasium, Matsue City Health and Welfare Center, and Matsue City Civic Activities Center, and sanitary products are placed in the toilets of each facility.

The donation to Matsue City is expected to help reduce anxiety and stress related to menstruation in public facilities used by women of all ages.
Matsue City is conducting surveys near the hand-washing areas of the installed toilets to collect residents' opinions and feedback. Based on this feedback, the city plans to consider future policies, such as improving installation methods and expanding the number of facilities covered.

With the cooperation of Matsue City and Red Box Japan, efforts are underway to create an environment where women can use public facilities with peace of mind.
